This past week, we were able to take the next, if small, steps on addressing the power situation with the community. We hope to meet again next week to continue the work. While there are still issues that we do not agree on, we do see willingness to reason together on the differences.
We also were visited by MINUSTAH, which is the name of the UN mission here in Haiti. The UN mission is made up of military and police personnel. MINUSTAH's mission is one of support and assistance to the Haitian authorities. If there are further problems with violence, we are thankful for the contacts we have as they can help resolve any issues more expediently.
We also ask for continued prayer as we were confronted by some staff issues in anesthesia last Friday. Our anesthesiologist has a family emergency which left us without an anesthesia provider for Friday night and Saturday morning. We are thankful that we did not have a need until our emergency replacement arrived on Saturday around mid-day. Our emergency need is covered at this time, but we will need to address further needs next week.
Please add this need to your prayers in addition to the other needs we've shared in the past.
